ABOUT
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Singapore’s Chinatown neighbourhood, the Chinatown Heritage Centre serves as your gateway to the rich stories, spirited culture, and resilience of the community that built this historic district.
Through immersive exhibits, poignant narratives, and vibrant programmes, CHC offers a glimpse into the lives of early migrants while showcasing the dynamic evolution of Chinatown, bridging the past with the present.

OUR MISSION
To preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Chinatown through immersive experiences, educational programmes and community engagement.
OUR VISION
A vibrant attraction and community space that celebrates the rich heritage of Chinatown in Singapore.

ABOUT THE BUILDING
The Chinatown Heritage Centre is housed in a trio of beautifully restored shophouses, located at 46, 48, and 50 Pagoda Street.
Built in the early 20th century, these shophouses boast a rich legacy that reflects the lively heritage of Chinatown. Historically used as traditional commercial spaces – for businesses like textile shops, traditional medicine halls, and eateries – these shophouses have been home to various enterprises that played a vital role for the local community. Their architectural features, characterised by intricate facades and unique cultural elements, provide a glimpse into Chinatown’s past while adding historical charm to the district.

WHAT WE DO
The Chinatown Heritage Centre embodies the essence of Chinatown, brought to life by four guiding pillars that reflect Chinatown’s importance for early immigrants, while also mirroring our mission to preserve Chinatown’s legacy for future generations.
The complex social fabric of Chinatown encompasses clan associations, secret societies, festivals, and the interplay of diverse cultures and traditions. CHC explores the vibrant and intricate dynamics of this thriving community.
For many, Chinatown was home – a sanctuary where migrants built their lives, raised families, and found a sense of belonging amidst daily challenges. CHC highlights the emotional warmth that turned Chinatown into a haven
for generations.
The grit and resourcefulness of Chinatown's residents in building their livelihoods is an inspiration. From street hawkers, to artisans and labourers, we honor their industrious spirit and the resilience that our nation was built upon.
As custodians of local heritage, CHC showcases Chinatown's transformation over the years while retaining its strong historical essence. We celebrate the enduring spirit of the community that has shaped modern Singapore.
