Come And Share A Delightful Christmas Story With Us At Chinatown Heritage Centre

This story tries to capture the very essence of the Christmas spirit of sharing and caring for others. Robbie, Father Christmas' loyal and helpful reindeer, accidentally lands in Singapore. He meets a boy who agrees to lead him to a Christmas party where he can hang all the gifts he's brought. Along the way to the party at Gardens By the Bay, they kindly pick up 11 animals, all from the Chinese zodiac, who have to accommodate each other in what becomes a very overcrowded sleigh. At the point of sinking the sleigh and the animals are rescued by a most unexpected champion!

Prata with Pui Wan – 5-hour Miniature Beginners' Class with PicoWorm

LATEST UPDATE: FULLY BOOKED

What kind of roti-prata takes 5 hours to make?
Miniature ones, of course!
This coming November, join us at the Chinatown Heritage Centre for a craft workshop led by Malaysian artist, Pui Wan of PicoWorm. Whilst most people would use photographs to capture their memories, Pui Wan creates dioramas to recollect the olden days.
After multiple sold-out runs of her miniature craft workshops in Malaysia, Chinatown Heritage Centre is proud to present PicoWorm’s first ever workshop in Singapore!
In the 5-hour workshop, attendees will learn to:
• Sculpt roti-prata from scratch
• Paint realistically
• Create the plastic bag and dhal

If the sight of the miniature roti-prata is making you salivate during the workshop, fret not!
Included in the workshop is a tea-time treat where you will be able to enjoy 2 pieces of Curry Times roti-prata and a warm beverage of your choosing!

GLACY AND FRIENDS ART EXHIBITION

Dates: 1 JULY TO 30 SEPTEMBER 2017

About the Exhibition

Glacy and Friends is a celebration of Singapore, Chinatown and a passion for the arts. In a two-part installment showcase, Singapore artist Glacy Soh teamed up with Ms Joyce Tan and Ms Yoke Ying, her classmates from Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) celebrating their 55th year with a thematic showcase featuring Chinatown. Their love for Chinatown is evident in their pieces which evoke fond memories and familiar sights. Anglo-Chinese School (ACS), too had its roots in Chinatown, the school was started by Methodist missionaries at a humble shophouse in Chinatown with just 13 pupils in 1886.

In the second part of the exhibition which runs for the month of August, Glacy collaborates with two of her senior art mentors, her ACJC art teacher Mr Lim Teow Lin, 82, and her fishmonger artist friend, Mr Tan Siak Thong, 72. Mr Tan Siak Thong, despite working a labourious job selling seafood, continues to pursue this passion in his spare time. Mr Lim Teow Lin had also inspired countless students to be passionate for art in his long career as an art teacher in Anglo-Chinese School and Anglo-Chinese Junior College.
